Skyland Series: Before I Let Go and This Could Be Us
Perfect for your book club!
If you’re starting a book club this year or looking to add to your reading list, I highly recommend kicking things off with Before I Let Go and This Could Be Us by Kennedy Ryan. These books are a must-read for fans of emotionally rich, beautifully written stories. Without giving too much away (because you need to experience them for yourself!), I can confidently say these books are a 10/10. I’ve read each of them twice and even listened to the audiobooks, which were just as captivating.
Personally, I loved Before I Let Go a little more, but both books are incredibly moving and impossible to put down.
Before I Let Go
In Before I Let Go, you can’t help but feel deeply for Yasmen and all she’s endured. Her journey with her ex-husband, Josiah, is heart-wrenching yet hopeful. Both characters are grappling with immense pain while trying to navigate what’s left of their bond. Their story is filled with heartbreak, passion, love, and the critical role of communication. Trust me, once you start, you’ll be hooked. I’ll stop here to avoid spoilers, but be prepared to feel all the emotions.
This Could Be Us
While Before I Let Go stole my heart, This Could Be Us is a beautiful read in its own right. I loved how it celebrated Puerto Rican and Afro-Latino culture while raising awareness about autism and life on the spectrum. Soledad’s journey of rediscovering herself, embracing solitude, and learning to love is so relatable and inspiring. The romance is fiery and passionate, but the book also touches on self-acceptance and healing.
What Makes These Books Special
One of my favorite things about this series is how it emphasizes the importance of therapy, self-love, and understanding that it’s okay not to be okay. Kennedy Ryan doesn’t shy away from intense, hot-and-heavy moments, but she balances them with deep emotional truths and the value of second chances.
Another standout element is the portrayal of friendship and sisterhood. Yasmen, Soledad, and Hendrix share a bond that’s heartwarming and supportive. Their relationship made me reflect on my own friendships and inspired me to appreciate the people who show up for me.
Looking Forward to Book Three
I’m so excited for Kennedy Ryan’s next installment! The third book is about Hendrix, the strong and fearless member of the group. She’s the type of friend everyone needs , reliable, independent, and always there for others. But I have a feeling this story will show us the other side of Hendrix, the parts of her that need love and support too. I can’t wait to see how her journey unfolds!
Let’s Discuss!
If you’ve already read these books, let me know what you thought! What did you love most? If you haven’t read them yet, pick them up, and let’s talk about them after you’re done. It’s hard to imagine anyone not loving this series, but if you didn’t, I’d still love to hear your thoughts.
Happy reading, and here’s to discovering more incredible stories this year!
